Cooking Aprons

We all take notice of the chefs in our favorite restaurant, at one point or another. We recognize them by their signature hats and chef aprons. Men and women have worn kitchen aprons for centuries. Traditionally, women have been the primary homemakers in a family. Although times have certainly changed and things are not as cut-and-dry as they were before, the same tends to hold true. Kitchen aprons have been an important piece of attire in women's history. The use of cooking aprons likely precedes that of written history with several scholars noting the use of aprons even in the time of Adam and Eve.

Kitchen aprons, or cooking aprons, have been worn to protect clothing from dirt, grime and smelly odors. They serve as a towel to dry freshly scrubbed hands. The pockets of kitchen aprons have been a wonderful tool for carrying utensils, kindling wood or even an occasional treat for a child. It is simply amazing to consider the long and rich history of cooking aprons and how they have changed along with societal standards. Today’s kitchen aprons still serve the same functional purposes but tend to come in a larger variety of styles, colors and with catchy one-liners.

Bistro aprons

There are so many varieties of aprons available in the market. Each variety is unique in its own way. Each variety of aprons has got its own advantages. Some are popular among the restaurant people, some other varieties are popular among the medical usages, some other are popular among the house wives and some other varieties are equally popular in al most all the segments. Some of the most widely used varieties of aprons are bib aprons, bistro aprons, dish wash aprons, deluxe waist aprons, and cobbler aprons and may other.

Out of all the available aprons, the bistro aprons perfectly suit personnel who take orders or provide service in the restaurants. Normally you find extra long ties run across the top of the bistro aprons. The large pocket over the right leg area, designed to hold order pads, (which is divided to create a pencil pocket) really provides a great look for the bistro aprons. Even though bistro aprons are also in usage by the cooks, they are not really made for them. Hence many cooks do not feel comfortable in working by wearing bistro aprons.

How ever a variety of bistro apron called bistro 2 pocket aprons is gaining huge popularity in equal amounts among all the restaurant personnel communities. They not only provide some stylish look but also have some other distinct advantages. People while serving the food or beverages or for that matter anything in bars or in restaurants can carry different material in the two pockets of these aprons with which they can serve in a much better fashion. Even chefs while cooking need so many things to get the food in the right condition. If they are light weighted they can be carried in these pockets. Because of these distinct advantages they are becoming very popular in a rapid way.

Even though traditionally the pockets are rectangle in shape with length greater than the width, now days some restaurants personnel prefer it other way around. How ever it is certainly a matter of personal preference. Traditionally these pockets are white in color but some modern designers are experimenting with some designs and some peculiar mixture of colors. These experimentations are still in their nascent stages only.
